Abstract

In this paper, we present a comprehensive, in-depth survey of the literatureon reinforcement learning approaches to decision optimization problems in atypical ridesharing system. Papers on the topics of rideshare matching, vehiclerepositioning, ride-pooling, routing, and dynamic pricing are covered. Populardata sets and open simulation environments are also introduced. Subsequently,we discuss a number of challenges and opportunities for reinforcement learningresearch on this important domain.
